Fall 2017 Beauty Treats

fall 2017 beauty

It’s Wednesday, it’s been a long week already (anyone else?), and we’re just barely on the cusp of an *actual* season change…so let’s talk fun fall stuff, okay? My brain can’t handle much else.

Fall fashion (including beauty) is hands down the best sartorial season and no, you can’t argue with me, its a plain fact. Perfectly broken in jeans, soft sweaters over even-softer worn t-shirts, booties, hats (!!!), mussed up hair (or a slept-in braid), and my favorite– the return of lipstick. Yes and amen.

Here’s a few of my current favs, pretty tones that are versatile and do well for workday-to-date-night looks. I’m thinking the goal should be a nice balance of soft pulled-together femininity meets relaxed tomboy at a weekend bonfire. Links below!

[lipcolors swatched in order of the top photo]
  1. L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Balm, 818 Nourishing Nude, 0.1 oz.
  2. essie the wild nudes 2017 nail polish collection, clothing optional, 0.46 fl. oz. E
  3. Rimmel Lasting Finish Lip by Kate Nude Collection, 47, 0.14 Fluid Ounce
  4. Pixi – Mattelustre Lipstick – Bitten Rose
  5. Glossier Balm Dotcom (Birthday)**

The Nude Balm in Nourishing Nude has been a long-time staple of mine (at around $5 a pop– one for my purse, one for the house…) although I think the shade formula has changed somehow in the last year? It seems lighter/more pastel than it used to be. Still good, but maybe best left for the fairest of complexions.

Essie’s Wild Nudes shade collection is too good (“too good” means bad news for my bank account) and I’m wearing this creamy, soft sienna brown with a touch of rose all the freaking time. It’s a nude, therefore it works with pretty much any clothing/makeup color scheme, but it holds its own. Buy it immediately.

The next two lipsticks– one by my top drugstore lipstick formula (Rimmel’s Lasting Finish by Kate) and the other by Target’s Pixi collection– will give you that perfect autumnal “going off to college in the mid-90’s” lipcolor, but with 2017 flavor. Like the nail polish, they find that warm brown and rose balance that is super flattering for most people and super easy to wear.

And lastly, my wild card. Seriously moisturizing lipbalm brought to us by the hip gal brand Glossier that straight up tastes and smells like good vanilla birthday cupcakes and also has a tiny glitter that grown-ups can somehow still wear? Nothing about this description would normally make me want to snap it up, but trust me on this. **Here is a code to get 10% off your order: https://re.glossier.com/3959def6  😎

Those are my fall beauty treat rec’s to get us ready for cooler temps and a cozier wardrobe, lest we find ourselves in a Liz Danes scenario.
