Three Things: Summer Quarantine Edition

The Great Quarantine of 2020 didn’t actually change much about our daily life, but one thing that did change was my skincare/makeup and wardrobe habits. Mascara became completely unnecessary and kind of annoying, filling in my brows became the new mascara, and exploring the world of face masks became my new frontier. Getting dressed was a challenge because honestly, who wants to get cute when there was no where to go?

Like many of you, I’ve found myself leaning toward a daily style that is easy and comfortable but dang it y’all…I miss getting ready!

So, I decided to have a little fun while (mostly) staying at home. Here are three things that have helped in that pursuit.

Three Things: Summer Quarantine Edition

First up, a good facial mask. Out of curiosity, I ordered the Pacifica mask (teal) on a whim from Amazon, which at $14.99 is a steal for the quality. This mask is on par with others at three times the price!

To use: at bedtime, simply glide on a nickel-sized amount over clean skin and then wake up in the morning with a plump, smooth, fresh-looking face. It has a light, clean scent and a medium weight (more like a super hydrating moisturizer rather than a clay-like mask).

My second pick is this super easy and cute (extra points for both!) dress from Amazon’s brand, Goodthreads. For starters, its a classic design that will flatter most bodies and it comes in several great colors and patterns. It’s also made of Viscose (a natural fiber) which I like because it wears well, resists wrinkles, and feels nicer than a typical poly blend. Finally, the buttons are covered! I don’t know why, but I just love that little detail. For $34.50, its a good find.

My third favorite thing will be no surprise to anyone at all, but the oppressive heat and doldrums of summer almost require a good book. I’ve been on a Jane Austen kick this month, so my final pick is a double whammy: this year’s rendition of Emma (video) and Austen’s Persuasion (book). Come for the love triangles, stay for the subtle wit (laugh at the dumb girls who fall off stone walls!)

I might also be unconsciously dressing like a character in one of Jane’s novels…what do you think?

Okay y’all, let me know…what is keeping you sane this summer? What’s bringing a little fun to your day? Share in the comments!

  1. Good find on the face mask! I don’t have the patience for face masking (at least, the beauty kind, not the COVID-19-preventative kind), but I am tempted to check it out now that you mentioned that it’s on par with high-end beauty! Just followed you and am looking forward to reading more of your posts!
